What I Stand For
As school board member, I will move the district forward with increased test scores and attendance. I have been a teacher for more than 6 years in Hayward. I will:
- Work to create safe schools.
- Make decreasing truancy a priority.
- Prepare students for college or career.
- Support a fiscally responsible budget.
- Support new basics for the 21st century.
Fiscally Responsible Budget with Schools FirstA fiscally responsible budget is very important to the success of a school and for the success of the students. A responsible budget will have all aspects of it examined and not just look at one source: the classroom.
A fiscally responsible budget will be successful when students are in the forefront when making fiscal decisions. It is when students are not the focal point, that budget has been compromised and is not the best it can be for the student's sake. |
Clear, Effective CommunicationMany problems arise because of communication "break-downs." We also have to understand that communication techniques have changed, and technology has evolved therefore we need to grow in the ways we communicate. We need communicate positively, and understand that we may disagree... but we need to disagree respectfully.
Clear, effective, concise communication is what is needed to inform and educate all participants in the learning community. HUSD, Board of Trustees, and the Community: the groups that need to communicate with each other. Clear communication with these groups, and from each of these groups, is how a positive beneficial relationship will work to support our students. |
Creating GoalsAs trustee, creating goals is paramount. I will not only create goals and policy, but also serve as the check-and-balance to the superintendent and the school district to ensure they are acting in the best interest of the community.
As members of the school community; students, teachers, parents, administrators, district staff, school board, and community members, we have to understand the common goal we are working for. We need to pull together, work on common ground, toward achieving a shared vision of success for our students which will give us success for our community. |
